CLUB COMMUNICATION - GENERAL MANAGER - HOLE IN ONE POLICY UPDATE - 30 JUNE 2022
2022In this club communication dated 30 June 2022, General Manager Matt Espie provides an update on the Hole in One Policy regarding the awarding of free drinks to players.
Previous traditions and policies regarding the celebration of a hole in one include:
Prior to this communication the person who achieved the hole in one could "ring the bell" in the clubhouse after the round was complete to signify a free drink for all present who had played in the day's event. That achievement had to be ratified by a member of the Match Committee.
On 20/7/1977 the Council of Management agreed that '… in the future, Hole in One refreshments would consist of a punch provided by the club.'
On 21/6/1979 the club's Finance Committee recommended
'… to levy members $1.00 each year to cover an insurance policy that would meet the cost of a round of drinks for members who have a hole in one'.
and
'a. The bottle of whisky given for each ''Ace'' be discontinued.
b. Drinks, limited to a nip of spirits or a glass of beer to each member present in te club house be covered as part of expenditure on trophies'
'… insurance cover of $10 is received from each Hole in One.'
The Council of Management ratified the 'free round of drinks' on 28/6/1979.
