Contextual Information
Typically from the late 19th/early 20th century and commonly known as a penny inkwell.
When new, these small bottles contained writing ink.
They were corked, sealed with sealing wax, and cost a penny each.
They were crudely made and one of the first disposables- they were simply thrown out when empty.
