A hand written letter in blue ink on lined paper detailing the history of Alfred Edward Gaby who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1918 and Charlie Gaby. These two men served in the First World War.

Historical information

In the information provided, Alfred Edward Gaby was awarded the Victoria Cross during action at Villiers Bretonneux on the 8th August 1918, he was killed in action three days later. The letter also states that the Nyabing Road Board applied for war trophies; two German machine guns were received and mounted high above the stage in the Nyabing Agricultural hall after it was built in 1919. At the onset of World War Two the Australian Government recalled all military styled rifles.
