Overview

Front: The studio portrait shows Mary Roe (nee Newman) wearing a black dress with a full skirt and tight bodice. The bodice features a high collar and a white panel in the front. The frock has a small bustle with a long length of ribbon tied around it. She is sitting on a prop 'rock', leaning her cheek against the fingers of her left hand. Her hat rests on the 'rock' in front at the right and her parasol leans against it. There is a large wicker basket at the lower right-hand side.
