Dark green leather hard cover, embossed with gold lettering and gold logo of Lloyd's Register of Shipping, No 2 White Lion Court, Cornhill. 3241 above and John F.T. Hassell, Albany, King George's Sound, W.A. 1883, beneath logo. Marbled end papers and page edges. The Register Book is published annually on the 1st July. It contains the names, &c., of all vessels of 100 tons and upwards registered in the United Kingdom, and of many ships of large tonnage owned abroad, in alphabetical order. The appendix lists Owners of Ships recorded in the Register Book, also a list of Dry Docks, Floating Docks, Pontoons, Patent Slipways, &c., at the principal Ports in the World. A list is also printed in the appendix of the Members of Lloyd's, and the Agents to Lloyd's. At front of book on inside cover is list of Classification of Ships. Circulars 305, 314, 340, 354, 369,472, 471, 477, 478, attached to opposite end paper. Another blue notice sheet stating the Society's Register of British and Foreign Yachts for the year 1883-1884 as issued on 1st May, attached to inside cover also. Table of contents of Register Book, and the Rules of the Society, Key to the Register, and Statement showing the number, tonnage, and description of new vessels classed by Lloyd's Register of British and Foreign Shipping during the year 1882, and Statement showing the number, gross tonnage, classes &c., of the vessels in the register book 1883-1884. In the key to register, some illustrations in regard to Double Bottoms and Water Ballast Tanks.
