POSTCARD: AUSTRALIAN BIRDS, 'FAMILIAR AUSTRALIAN SINGERS'

Overview

Vertical cream postcard with a coloured print of 8 native Australian birds. 'Familiar Australian Singers' is written along the top edge in black swirly type. Along the bottom edge in the same font reads 'With / Compliments / of the / SINGER SEWING / MACHINE Co.'

Three larger birds are perched on a branch at the top including a magpie, a kookaburra and a Crimson Rosella (from left to right). Standing on the ground in the bottom is a large lyrebird. On either side of the lyrebird two smaller birds are perched on branches. To the left is a green bird (species unidentifable) and below it a fairy wren. To the right is a Fantail and below it an Eastern Whipbird. There is native greenery in the bottom two corners.

The reverse is horizontal with 'POST CARD' along the top edge, with a vertical line dividing the card in half dwon the middle. At the top of the left section reads 'FOR POSTAGE IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND ONLY / THIS SPACE MAY BE USED FOR COMMUNICATION.' To the right reads '(FOR ADDRESS ONLY)'. In the top right corner is a space for the stamp which reads 'Only / the address on / this side if / sent abroad.'
