Baby's christening gown, made of white cotton. Handmade.
Handmade embroidery panel to front, with band of embroidery to hem and fine broderie anglaise to lower hem.
Bodice, front panel embroidery with broderie anglaise defining edge and broderie to short sleeves, neck with lace edge, tape tie to neck.
Feather stitch to neck sleeves/waist, charcoal mark to rear of skirt.
White cotton and white on white embroidery.

Contextual Information

The christening gown is made up from two different dresses. Bottom half dates early 19th century and top dates late 19th century. Hand made lace along the neck with a 20th century look about it. The bodice front is fragile.
