Leather Brass Bible
It was established that a Bible fitting the description of the item to hand, had been on a list of memorabilia to be retained by CWA from Sunshine Park Hostel following the gifting of the project to Baptist Homes Trust on 1st November 1991.
Exhaustive investigations have not confirmed the provenance of the Bible but Mrs Alice Adamson stated she believed it had been a gift from Matron Anne Doorty who was employed at Sunshine Holiday Home for ten years. Matron Doorty resigned in April 1942 to take charge of the children evacuated from the city to Dangin Hostel due to threat of war. When found the Bible was in poor condition and after consultation with the Royal Historical Society of WA it was repaired after it being referred to the February 2015 meeting of the State Management Committee.
In consultation with Archives and SMC, it was decided that the Bible be displayed in the Dempster Cabinet on 2nd floor of CWA House.
