In 1907, William Maidment bought 640 acres from Ted Lang of what had once been WJ Roberts "Old Capel Farm" and renamed his property "Paringa". "Paringa" had a weatherboard house with a cellar, fruit trees, a dairy herd and a small flock of sheep. From here, Maidment bred horses for the Indian army.
