The woman in the photograph is Alice Haddleton nee McKenna and she was the mother of Tom Haddleton junior the first white boy born in the Katanning district.

On the back of the photograph handwritten in dark ink is "Mrs Alice Haddleton 1848 - 1921, landed in Fremantle in 1863. Mother of five sons and eight daughters. Daughter of Sergeant McKenna, first Police Officer at Police Pools (see also copy o Southern Districts Advocate July 4th 1921"
Alice was the moher of Tom Haddleton (2) the first white boy born in Katanning.
