MICHAEL COATE PLANS FOR GREENS 13 AND 14 1988

These are A2 sized design plans for the greens on holes 13 and 14 drawn up by golf course architects Michael Coate and Associates in 1988.

The coloured plans show the green layouts including contours, bunkering and vegetation. The plans are very close to the layout of these two greens that existed from approximately 1990 to 2022 (personal knowledge - Ray Hince and Frank Davies).

Course history (Item 2021.67) suggests that hole 13 was redesigned by Michael Coates in 1988, implying that this green plan was used. When the green was subsequently returfed in Spring 2022 the contouring was amended as part of that process.

The same course history suggests that hole 14 was redeveloped in 1990 using another golf course architect, Commercial Design Management. The plans used by Commercial Design Management are not available but it is likely that the Coate design was closely followed.
