MGGC GLADES OPEN NEWSPAPER ARTICLES
1969These two newspaper articles written by David Warren cover the results of the inaugural MGGC Open in 1969. Both are undated but are most likely to have been written the day after the event which was conducted on 26 October.
Both focus on Robbie Petersen, the event's winner, and particularly his afternoon round of 68. The writer includes details of his seven birdies and the fact that the round was a course record. He also describes the course conditions for the 60 competitors that included nine professionals.
It is not known why there are two versions of the write ups. One would have almost certainly appeared in the West Australian. The other may have appeared in the Daily News the same evening.
Both articles were provided by his son Ben Petersen, who photographed them from his father's scrap book.
