"Love from afar" postcard
1913Postcard picturing on the front a steamship in the centre, above two globes shaking hands, in upper left corner an albatross, and in lower left corner a scroll with the words, "The links of remembrance, Hold fast o'er the sea; Tis proved by this greeting, I send now to thee."
Handwritten message on the back.
The postcard was written by Lotta Amelia Buckingham who married William Louis McConkey in North Perth in 1913. The McConkey's were farmers at Rudds Gully.
We are unable to discover who Vera was.

My Dear Vera
I am going to write you a few lines to let you see married life is all right. I am getting quite used to it. I will soon be a jocky now I came home the other night on horse back. Will was on the back and I was on the front. I tell him I am going to get a divided skirt. Well Vera I suppose you are havving a good time now I see you are going to have a River trip. I hope you will think of me. I go to bed every night about eight. Will is away all day working at his mothers. I am waiting for some of you Nth. Pth. to come up here. you won't want to go back.
Well Vera trusting this will find you all well & happy. I remain your old friend Lotta.
