Historical information

Item was located in Kalgoorlie and was donated to the History House Armadale by Mark Hayter in 1976.
The remedy was the brainchild of W.E. Woods, a chemist from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Woods initially set up shop in Hastings in 1881, later moving to Wellington and eventually to Sydney, where he died in 1927. His company, W.E. Woods & Co., continued to operate after his death.
The cough syrup is a menthol-based remedy that helps to soothe the throat and suppress coughs. Its primary active ingredient is menthol which soothes the throat and suppresses coughs. It also helps to loosen phlegm.
