WALRUS (Odobenus rosmarus) Both the Pacific and the Atlantic walruses inhabit the moving pack ice and rocky islands of the Arctic. Males are larger than females, and both sexes have tusks. Because of the remote character and poor visibility of the walrus' natural habitat, the actual feeding process in the wild has not been observed. Walruses are hunted by Eskimos for food and ivory, and their numbers are in decline through-out their range. (84).
