VASE, CERAMIC - BIRD & BLOSSOM DECORATION

Overview

Glazed and painted earthenware brown vase. Round base that tapers up to a stem. Stem supports a round body that tapers up to an opening that splays out to form two lips. Small handles on side of vase body near vase neck. White dot decorations on handles and around where vase neck meets main body. Vase decorated with lines of white dots and other brown or white patterns. In middle of body on both sides is a raised scene of a bird sitting on a branch with pink and white blossom, scenes slightly different. Each scene hand painted

Makers mark and number stamped on base.

Statement of significance

HIGH

historical importance - vase belonged to Warden William Lambden Owen who worked through out Western Australia before retiring to Brookside when lived for many years. Was Brookside's 2nd resident after Jull family. Rare item from Brookside
