A pencil and water colour drawing of the head and shoulders of a middle aged man who has a beard and is wearing a dark coat. The painting has a light brown background, it is surrounded by a white border and framed in a narrow black wooden frame.

Historical information

The man is Thomas Gibson Haddleton who came to the colonies as a Parkhurst offender. He drove sheep in the Katanning District and built the farm 'Coompatine'. He married Alice McKenna in 1863 and settled at 'Coompatine' in 1864, they had thirteen children and he died in 1903. One of his sons was Job Haddleton.
