Embroidered on cover “To My Dear Mother”.
On reverse of card handwritten in pencil the following – “May 14th / Dear Mother / Just a few lines to let you know I am well / I have had one letter from home dated 6 March / I was glad to get one to know how you are at home / I have not had any parcels that Et said she had sent on the letter / I might have the luck to get them after a while / I have write a good few letters home hopping you got them alright / I sent a parcel form Egypt / I suppose you got it / The weather over here is pretty wet and cold / I think this is all this time hopping it find you all well at home. Billey xxxx / are you getting my back pay.”
