PHOTOGRAPH: WHITTAKERS BUILDING WITH CARS IN FRONT

The photograph shows a section of Whittakers buildings with six cars and trucks lined up in front. There are a number of men posing alongside each car. There are several tradesmen amongst them, with the majority wearing suits and hats. A small dog is standing in front of the second car from the left. The corrugated iron buildings in the background have high roofs, with finials and rows of windows under the eaves, with the words 'Whittaker Bros' painted across the front. The man in the centre of group by car 14006 to the right of the picture is Mr Jack Arthur, grandfather of the donor. The donor's mother states: 'My father (Jack Arthur) worked for Whittakers for many years - both in the office, and as their traveller, going to the various building sites and taking orders, and giving advice (no architects in those days). He is the middle man of the group by car No. 14006. Regularly he would go to the Whittakers' Mill at North Dandalup with their pay. The others I cannot identify.'
