Bicycle
1910 - 1925A black and white photograph of a bicycle which has an attached third wheel. In the background is a brick house with an enclosed verandah and water tanks either side of the verandah.
This bike was owned by Cyril Gare. The third wheel attached to the back wheel of the bicycle was invented by "Wall" in 1910. It was called "Wall Auto Wheel." An American company bought the manufacturing rights and in 1914 put the name "Smiths Motor Wheel" on the flywheel.

On the back of the photograph hand written in blue ink is "Cyril Gare's Smiths Wheel" and below this is "a motorised wheel attached to push bike".
