The H.E. Prenzlow Trophy was established by the Ladies’ Committee for women who could not lower their handicap below the upper limit of 36. (The Australian handicapping system had a limit of 36 for women before it was changed to 54 in 2009.)
The H.E. Prenzlow Trophy thus offered a medium to recognise lady members who were valued for their regular participation in club events and honoured ''for best tryer''.
Excerpts regarding the trophy's purpose from the Committee’s minutes include:
''Most improved player on 36 handicap who is also a good member''
and
''Awarded to Best Consistency for players on 36''
At one stage there was concern that it was ''Important that this doesn’t become a ‘personality’ trophy and it should be awarded on clear cut golfing achievement''.
After being awarded annually along with other events from the inaugural year of the club's golfing activities in 1969 (there are no results for 1971 and 1972) the Committee voted to discontinue the trophy in 1994.
