The yacht 'Circe' .
During the early 1900s the 'Circe' was owned and sailed by a small syndicate of which FW Pead was the leader until about 1908. Other members were GA Bower, R Finlay, R Hamilton, JR McKay, J Mufing and A Trebblecock. The 'Circe' was sailed mainly in ocean races under the auspices of the West Australian Yacht Club, Fremantle, of which FW Pead was commodore for a period. During the 1920s, the 'Circe' was moored at Peppermint Grove and it sank at its moorings there in the early 1930s. The last owner was H Osborne. Allan Pead, son of FW Pead, believes that Circe Circle in Dalkeith was named after the yacht.
