Wanneroo Road Board
c. 1910B & W photograph, 4 x 6 cm, photographic paper.
The first Road Board Hall was originally known as the Agricultural Hall and was built in 1904. Originally rented by the Wanneroo Road Board, the Board assumed ownership of this building from the Wanneroo Agricultural Society in 1920.
Around 1934, an office building comprising a facade and two offices was built in front of the Agricultural Hall. Shortly before the demolition of these buildings in 1965, a new Shire Hall was built (probably in 1964), behind the original Road Board office and hall. This hall (which never fulfilled the function of administrative offices), was later extended to include a senior citizens’ centre. It was demolished about 2005 to make way for the new Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre.
