Wedgwood blue jasperware plate 'Australians at War' - 1988

1988
Overview

Wedgwood blue jasperware plate entitled 'Australians at War' produced as one of a set of six plates to celebrate the Australian Bicentenary in 1988.
The background of the plate is typical Wedgwood blue with cream bas-relief ornaments, in this case, a group of five soldiers marching in front of two troopers on their horses. The soldiers are wearing their uniforms, slouch hats and puttees and those marching are carrying their rifles.
A section of paved road is depicted in the foreground and there are some two-storey buildings in the background.
At the top of the reverse of the plate is the copyrighted logo for the Australian Bicentennial Authority - a stylised map of Australia - below which are details about the manufacture, licensing and copyright written in dark blue.
The words 'Wedgwood, Made in England' are impressed into the clay at the bottom of the reverse. There is also a rectangular white sticker with red writing which reads 'DB 108 85'.
The plate is held in the original blue box and has a certificate indicating that this plate is number 767 in the limited edition.
