Historical information

The Motor Launch Perseverance was built by William Douglas and his Sons in 1906 , on the banks of the Kalgan River at "Killarney" Where William was living at the time. The launch was propelled by a naphtha burning 6 hp "Union" engine and in March 1907 was registered and licensed to carry forty passengers in the Port of Albany.

The site where the launch was built is on the up river side of the creek. Just past the river landing stage at "Killarney"

When I was a boy the site was clearly visible and my Farther, Clem Douglas, often said "that's where we built the Perseverance".
