Property of BJ (Crash) and BE (Beryl) Edwards, 'Brooklands Park', Kweda, Western Australia, Australia - 029

1988
Overview

Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by BJ (Crash) Edwards.

Avon Location 12557.

Comments: The early work here was done in 1981 and the area of salt in Hausler's paddock has improved considerably and is now almost all growing crops or grass or both. This system was put in in 1980 and the area in both farms has improved but an area below number 1 has gone salt and is now bare. 450 metres of plastic was put in from east boundary of Edwards to the bend in number 1. The plastic was put down to a depth in places (at the east end) of 18 feet, ground was very hard and like flint but water was still coming in at the bottom of trench. It was then decided to do a standard bank down the east fence to link up with existing number 3. The better plan would be to take a grade around the eastern side of the area right through to the river. Hausler would not be in this.
