Carnation, Gosnell's Blossom Series label
c. 1910This rectangular label features a blue background and an illustration of carnations in white, yellow red and pink. There is an oval text box on the top of label says, GOSNELL S BLOSSOM SERIES. Carnation is in decorative, cursive script towards the middle. The bottom of the label bears the name of the company, JOHN GOSNELL AND Co. Ltd. LONDON.
The art style of this label- floral illustration with decorative borders and elegant script, suggests late Edwardian to early Art Deco influence, likely c1910s-1930. The use of rich colors and stylised flower forms fits well with commercial art trends of that era, aimed at evoking nature and luxury.
