PHOTOGRAPH: SPECTATORS AT SUBIACO OVAL
1937The black and white image gives a view of spectators, with some seated in the grandstands and some standing on the grassed slopes . The 1908 (which photographic evidence suggests was destroyed by fire in 1937) and 1923 stands are visible. The majority of people are wearing hats. There is an ice-cream vendor's stand in front of the near grandstand and a young boy holding a tray containing foodstuffs moving towards the left of the photograph . The numbers '333' are distinguishable advertising on the side of the kiosk. A lone sportsman can be seen on the oval. The trees and buildings in Subiaco are shown in the left hand background of the photograph.
