My wife Shirley, and I had just returned from a stint in a country town and were thinking to ourselves “Where do we play golf?” An advertisement in the paper regarding a new private golf club in the northern suburbs caught our eye so I attended a meeting about it. The presentation on the night was impressive.

Other local private clubs such as WA Club, Mt Lawley and Karrinyup were too expensive so we decided it would be in our best interests to go for this new “Wanneroo Golf Club”. Shirley and I both decided to sign up as Foundation Members. Shirley only played golf for a few years at Wanneroo but was proud to be part of the early days.
