Contextual Information

On his return from war, Harry took up farming in Dungalocking, near Dumbleyung in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. In September 1921 he played a role in assisting Constable Wilson, also a bailiff, who had been shot in the stomach by a farmer who was in debt and had been served a notice that his property was to be seized. The Constable was able to drive his sulky to Riseborough’s farm and was taken to the police station. Wilson was then taken to Wagin Hospital and recovered from his wound. As a result of his actions, Harry was awarded a Citation and, later in life, permitted to ride a police grey in the Anzac Day Parade, thus becoming the last First World War 10th Light Horse serviceman to ride in the parade.
