Historical information

Born in Port Pirie, South Australia, in 1897 Henry (Harry) RISEBOROUGH enlisted on 10 December 1914, listing his age as 18 years and his occupation as a labourer at Lime Lake, Wagin. He trained at Guildford and served in the Middle East in the 10th Light Horse Regiment in the Machine Gun section. Harry remained in this theatre of First World War and in February 1918 was detached to Officers’ School. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in September 1918, then detached from duty on 16 November before returning to Australia in April 1919 on HMAT Euripedes. Harry received the 1914/15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
