PHOTOGRAPH: SUBIACO SCHOOL DRILLING COMPETITION
c. 1904The black and white photograph features the boys of Subiaco State School at the Claremont Oval engaged in a drill competition. The boys wear white trousers and short-sleeved shirts, with dark socks, white shoes and straw boaters. The headmaster, Mr Wheeler, with bowler hat and cane, stands to the right. Mr Manuel, also complete with bowler and cane, stands to the left. There is a picket fence in the background and overhead lights on the left and right hand side of the photograph. Subiaco School, at the Claremont Oval, was the undefeated champion for the three years, 1907-1909.
