Historical information

Oliver Rees, a confectioner and baker, was an accomplished member of the St Arnaud Rifle Club in Victoria from 1900. He won the WH Gargett medal in 1902 and was a member of the successful St Arnaud team that won the Skene Memorial Trophy. He moved to WA and joined the Pingelly Rifle Club winning a gold medal in 1906. He opened a furniture store in 1910 but returned to his baking profession in 1912 opening a tea rooms in Merredin. It is reported he opened the first bakery in Merredin in c1915.
By 1937 he was living in Cottesloe and was a member of the East Perth Rifle Club.
