50 Objects 50 Years
In 2002, the City of Subiaco commissioned renowned artist Shaun Tan to create two murals for the interior of Subiaco Library. This preparation sketch depicts the planned mural ‘The 100 Year Picnic’ in pastel and pencil. The artwork interprets a photograph of the Hancock family of Subiaco picnicking in around 1925. In the centre, Tom Hancock plays an accordion which is also held in the museum collection.
