Overview

A photograph of Bunbury Senior High School students participating in the WAY 79 Colonial Kingia Day held at the school, in a performance entitled A Convict Settlement.

Historical information

A Colonial Kingia Day was held at Bunbury Senior High School as part of the WAY 79 celebrations.

Convicts escaped from the red coated military, while shots boomed from the guns on the top balcony of the school! Girls screamed and strong men trembled.

This was Colonial Kingia. Sunday October 28th in the 150th year of our State, and the city status for Bunbury: a day when students and staff were totally committed and involved in putting our school on show.

Brilliant, excellent .... we could use all the superlatives to describe the success of the day. The feeling of pride in our school was obvious. This was Colonial Kingia and only Bunbury Senior High School could do it so well.

From an article in the 1979 Kingia magazine.
