Historical information

Queen Elizabeth II opened the Third Session of the 20th Australian Federal Parliament in Canberra on February 15, 1954, during her historic first visit to Australia as the reigning monarch. This event marked a significant moment as she was the first reigning sovereign to open an Australian Parliament.
