1917Light Horsemen with Boan Shield
The Boan shield was presented in 1913 by Mr. Harry Boan with the object of encouraging a competitive spirit in theannual camp of continuous training among the various troops of Light Horse in thisState. The Shield was formally handed back to the custody of the Light Horse of Western Australia on 18 September 1918 by Lieut. G. A. Burkett, on behalf of D Troop, A Squadron, Squadron, 10th LightHorse, which was, the first troop to win the shield in competition. During World War 1, twenty-onr of the 37 men of the troop which had originally won the shield were killed and 11 wounded.-
