PHOTOGRAPH: COUNCILLOR T.W. HETHERINGTON AND FAMILY
c. 1900Sepia toned photograph, mounted on cream coloured card. Photograph shows a family, neatly dressed and posed against a background of bushland. The family is arranged on and in front of a fallen log, with the oldest boy (far left) on a bicycle. The family in order is (left to right) a boy, a girl, the father (T.W. Hetherington), a younger boy, two younger girls and the mother, with a baby on her lap. The girls and youngest boy are in dresses with white pinafores. The oldest boy and his father are in suits, whilst the mother wears a dark coloured dress with a white collar.
(From photo description slip accompanying photo) Councillor T.W. Hetherington of Subiaco's first Municipal Council and his family believed to have been photographed in Subiaco c1900. Note the immaculate appearance of the family despite the wilderness setting. Buildings just visible in the left-hand background give an indication that the wilderness was not long to remain.
