Contextual information

Top of the painting shows 4 boomerangs (kylee) these represent the past players, staff and current players and staff that like a boomerang keep coming back to the club, whether it be to coach, work in the canteen, be part of the committee or just to support a great club. The large circle in the middle represents the football club and the semi-circles surrounding it represents the male and female footballers as well as the staff, coaching team and supporters.

The lakes in the painting are Lake Joondalup, Lake Jandalup and surrounding small lakes, all park of the Mooro Yellowgonga area. The kangaroo (Yonga) tracks represent the WJFC nickname the ROO’s as well as they are around the lakes where kangaroos would drink water and lay under the trees during the hot days, the local Aboriginal people would use these lakes for water, food and shelter during the Djeran and Makaru season which is April to July.

The lining down the bottom which has 100’s of dots represents the supporters, players and staff which have passed on but their spirit still hangs around the club, also the spirit of the Aboriginal Ancestors they continue to dance and celebrate in spirit and look after those who play on the land.

Underneath that are the 55 life members some who continue to work tirelessly around the club.
On the sides in the black are the Aboriginal Ancestors who walked this land, they would use this land to eat, shelter, use as a trading place with other tribes as well as ceremonies and dance.
