CWA of WA State Banner

1989 - 1993
Overview

White wool fabric hung on wooden stand

Historical information

In 1989, beginning to show signs of wear and tear, the much loved State Banner needed to be replaced. It was decided to hold a competition for a new design.
Specifications were very detailed as to size while the design had to include the words of the official Association badge, the name of the State and it had to be suitable for production on a wool fabric.
The competition was won by Pat Pollard from Collie branch - Preston Division

Contextual Information

Although the design had been accepted three years previously, crafting the banner had taken four years to complete. Exquisitely handcrafted, the colourful banner was carried into the State Conference hall in 1993 by Mrs May Fallon who had co-ordinated the project with the assistance of Mrs Ruth Bishop, Mrs Clare Rushton, Dr Rica Erickson, Mrs May Mansfield, Mrs Johanna Vandervalk and Mrs Margery Dawson.
