The image shows several people outside of Joseph Middleton's cycle shop and motor garage. Joseph Middleton is the man leaning against the verandah post. Middleton is listed in the Post Office directories as a cycle agent in 1923 at 224 York Road. From 1924 through to 1949 he is listed at 218-216 York Road (changes to 209 Great Eastern Highway when road name is changed). From 1923-1926 Middleton's business is listed as a "Cycle Agent" or "Cycle Works" and from 1927-1947 his business is listed as a "Motor Garage". In 1949 (the final year of the P.O. directory) the business is listed as "Bicycle Dealer".
