Historical information

Between c1960 and 1967 Pam Herbert worked at Hastie's General Drapers in Jull Street Armadale. It was during this time Pam believes that she purchased these needles. Pam would often make her own clothes as well as the clothes for her children using patterns often purchased at Hastie's.
Hastie's General Drapers was owned by Bernie Hastie. The shop was originally built by Mrs E. Caldwell in the 1910s next to Hand's Butchers in Jull Street. Mrs Caldwell carried on business for many years before selling it in 1930 and it became known as Henwoods Bargain Centre. Bernie Hastie purchased the store in c1944 and operated it through to the 1970s.
