Historical information

Dampier Wheatbelt Division existed from 1953 - 1996 and in 1979 consisted of the following branches :
Beacon; Bencubbin; Gabbin; Koorda; Kununoppin; Mukinbudin; Nungarin; Trayning; Wialki; Wyalkatchem.
There were strong fellowship links between divisions. For several years a 'Paraweena' Day was held jointly between Western Plains, Avon Valley and Dampier Wheatbelt Divisions. A brain child of Mrs Barbara Kelly when she was Divisional President of Avon Valley Division, she named the occasion after learning that Paraweena waa an aboriginal name for 'Meeting of the Birds' .
