At the 2nd Combined Arts Festival held in 1963, organised by Mrs K Farrell, a competition was held to choose a tea towel for the Association. From the 88 entries a colourful Banksia design by Mrs I Jensen of Applecross/Mt Pleasant branch was chosen as first and the second prize went to Mrs G Russ of Gnowangerup. These tea towels were so popular that 2000 were sold in five weeks.
In 1969 in an endeavour to provide more items for sale in the CWA shop a competition was announced by Head Office for Divisions to design a tea towel with this criteria - tea towel was to be 29x19 inches and only 6 colours to be used and the design must incorporate a CWA identity. Support was poor but the Judges selected the design "Sea Foods of Western Australia" submitted by Mrs Leslie Williams of the Coorow Branch as the winning design of the tea towel however production for sale did not eventuate.
