YOUANMI DINING ROOMS

Contextual Information

Youanmi ghost town is located approximately 90 kilometres southwest of Sandstone. The town originally emerged when the Youanmi Gold Mine was opened in the early 1900s but was abandoned in the 1940s when the mine closed. A mine was again opened in the area in the 1990s, however the town was never re-settled, as most of the mining staff were FIFO (fly-in-fly-out) workers.
