Contextual Information

A museum volunteer’s grandmother owned this sewing machine. The volunteer explained that her grandmother did not like to be idle and often took to the sewing machine as soon as she had a moment to spare. The grandmother used to take a sulky (a kind of carriage) drawn by camels out to the drovers' camp, and took her sewing machine with her.
