Historical information

Mrs Mary Ellen Croasdale was a very active member of the Roleystone and Kelmscott communities. Mary was a member of the Roleystone Red Cross, Roleystone Progress Association, Returned Servicemen's League - Kelmscott Branch Axillary, Kelmscott Agricultural Society, Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Roleystone Congregational Church where she helped run the Sunday School and was a member of the Church's Women's Guild. She was affectionately known as 'Aunty Polly' in the community.
Mary married John James Croasdale in England and sometime in the early 1900s they migrated to Western Australia. In 1912 they were living in Canning mills, 1916-17 living on Jull Street in Armadale before moving to Roleystone where they lived for many years on Croyden Road on their orchard.
Mary died age 70 in 1951. Two years later a room at the Roleystone Congregational Church was named in her honour.
