Overview

Black and white copy photograph of a portrait of the Brown family. The photograph shows seven people seated and standing. From left to right:

A young boy who is dressed in shorts, a waistcoat, shirt, jacket and tie with black shoes and long socks that have a light stripe at the knee. He rests one hand on a chair. Seated on the chair is a women in a long skirt or dress with a white blouse. She rests her chin on her hand. Standing behind her with his head partially cut off is a young man. He rests one hand on the back of the chair. He is wearing a three piece suit and has a pocket watch or fob chain attached to his waistcoat. Standing at the front is a young female child. She wears a pleated dress with checkered wrist cuffs, cumberband and neck piece. She has white knee-high socks and has a bow in her hair. She stands in front of an older seated gentleman. He is also in a suit with a white shirt and tie and has a moustache. Seated beside him is a young boy in shorts, a white shirt and longer darker overshirt. He has dark socks to his knees and dark shoes. Standing behind him is a young man wearing a three piece suit. He rests is left hand on the back of the chair.

Historical photograph of the Brown family.

See attached letter of the Brown family.

Ivy was born in 1909, and Francis Roy went off to World War One in late 1914, dating this image between 1912-1914. Family research dates the photo to 1914.

Two of the Brown siblings served in World War One and Eric Gordon served and was killed in World War Two.
