Embroidery Sampler
1867A cotton sampler which has been ebroidered with numbers and letters of the alphabet done in a variety of scripts. The sampler has a scroll embroidered around all edges. It has been conservatively framed and protected by glass.
Embroidery samplers were made to assist children to learn their alphabet and numbers. Catherine Tunney made this cotton embroidery sampler in 1867.

It has the verse 'O where shall I seek Thee, Thou God of my heart, I seek till I find Thee and ne'er let Thee part, O where shall I seek Thee or where shall I find Thee, You delight to repose in a meek humble heart. On the altar you'll find me, the throne of my love, O come now my fair one, come now my Dove, It’s there I’ll expect thee, and ne'er will reject thee, O come to Your Father, your spouse and your God. Catherine Tunney was the daugher of John Tunney who was an enrolled pensioner guard stationed at Kojonup. Catherine married Henri Larsen in 1873.
