Wool Scarf
1990Cream wool scarf with fringe
Cream wool scarf made by Judy Calderwood of Beacon Branch and presented to Barbara Dinnie during her term as State President.
This was made when CWA had a strong focus on ""Use More Wool"" due to the backlog of wool. CWA held Wool Days in central Perth and Judy was one of the demonstrators. She worked hard to promote wool, making many beautiful articles from fine wool.
Included in this donation is a story by Barbara Dinnie of the wool days and wool promotions.
Eleanor Junk also from Beacon branch learnt to dye wools from natural products eg grasses, gum leaves, nuts, beetroot etc and then had beautiful woollen jumpers and cardigans made of her wools. They were a popular export and local garment. Both Eleanor and Mary King were awarded Advance Australia Awards and Judy deserved the same for her wonderful wool promotion.
